"Imagine my delight at finding a recipe for guerrilla cookies!! Your description of those cookies having achieved "cult status" is correct. I graduated from UW Madison in 1978 and remember often buying a sleeve of 6 guerrilla cookies on my way home from classes. A couple of cookies and a glass of milk was pretty close to a meal. At the time, who would have known we were consuming such a classic? I have since looked for that recipe on google and inquired about it at UW Alumni web sites, with limited success. "Thank you so much! My memories of this great dish are very special to me...I grew up on the North side of Chicago and my grandmother and aunt lived on the South side. We often met on Saturdays at Field's. For lunch, we ate in the Narcissus Room and Mary was our waitress. She was from Ireland, as was my grandmother, and my grandmother wouldn't think of asking for any other waitress. The Little Red Hens were not always on the menu, but when they were, there was no hesitation on my part. That's what i wanted! they looked so cute with their clove eyes and sitting in their "nest" of chow mein noodles and mashed potatoes....I really appreciate your finding this for me!
